Haust Policy

Last updated: 24 October 2026

Welcome to Haust!

At Haust, we believe the best hostel experiences come from a mix of exploration, shared experiences and mutual respect. These house rules help us maintain a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for everyone.

All guests are expected to read and follow these policies throughout their stay. By confirming a booking or staying at Haust, guests agree to comply with these rules, subject to applicable law and the terms of their reservation.

1. Age Requirements & Accommodation Eligibility

  • Guests under 18 years of age, including infants and children, are not permitted to stay in dormitory accommodation, even when accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or another adult.

  • Guests under 18 may stay in private rooms only when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

  • All guests must comply with applicable laws and Haust’s accommodation policies.

2. Identification & Check-in Requirements

  • All guests must complete check-in in person and present valid, original, government-issued photo identification for identity and age verification.

  • Foreign nationals must present their original passport and valid Indian visa or other applicable immigration documentation as required under Indian law.

  • Student IDs, office IDs, photocopies and screenshots of identification documents may not be accepted as substitutes for the required identification.

  • Guests must provide accurate information during booking and check-in.

  • Haust reserves the right to refuse check-in where a guest fails to meet applicable identification or eligibility requirements, provides misleading information or does not comply with these policies. Refunds, where applicable, will be handled according to the booking terms and applicable law.

3. Booking, Advance Payment & Outstanding Balance

  • Any advance payment required to secure a reservation must be completed according to the instructions provided at the time of booking.

  • For reservations made through online travel agencies (OTAs) or other third-party booking platforms, advance payments and related payment arrangements will be handled in accordance with the respective platform’s terms and instructions.

  • The full outstanding balance for the stay must be paid and cleared at check-in. Guests must ensure that all accommodation charges due at that time have been settled before their stay proceeds.

  • Guests are responsible for completing payments through the designated payment method and within the specified timelines.

  • Any additional charges incurred during the stay, including applicable charges for extra services, damages, missing items or policy violations, must be settled as communicated by Haust and in accordance with applicable law.

  • Bookings, payments, cancellations and refunds may also be subject to the terms of the platform through which the reservation was made.

4. Check-in, Check-out & Bed Allocation

  • Standard check-in: 2:00 PM

  • Standard check-out: 11:00 AM

Beds are allocated only after a guest has completed the required check-in formalities in person.

  • A booking confirmation alone does not constitute bed allocation. Guests must arrive in person, complete identification and check-in requirements, and have their check-in accepted before a bed is assigned.

  • For group reservations, beds will be allocated only to guests who arrive and successfully complete check-in. If some members of a group do not arrive, beds will be allocated to those who are present and checked in. Beds will not be held for absent group members beyond the applicable booking terms.

  • Guests must occupy only the bed assigned to them. Using another guest’s bed, changing beds without approval or occupying an unallocated bed is not permitted.

  • Unauthorised use of an additional bed or accommodation space may result in additional charges, subject to availability and management approval.

  • Early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability, prior approval and any applicable charges. Guests should confirm arrangements with the team in advance.

5. Dormitory Allocation

  • Dormitories are shared accommodation spaces and are not reserved exclusively for a single individual or group unless expressly confirmed by Haust in writing.

  • Guests travelling together may be accommodated in separate dormitories, depending on availability, occupancy, accommodation type and operational requirements at the time of check-in.

  • Booking multiple beds does not guarantee that all members of a group will be allocated beds in the same dormitory, room or on the same floor.

  • Guests may inform Haust of their preferences in advance. The team will try to accommodate reasonable requests where possible, but all preferences are subject to availability and are not guaranteed unless expressly confirmed by Haust.

  • Guests who require exclusive use of a dormitory should contact Haust in advance. Such arrangements are subject to availability and must be expressly confirmed by Haust in writing.

6. Care of Amenities & Property

All amenities, furnishings, equipment and other items provided by Haust must remain in their designated locations on the property.

  • Guests must not remove, relocate, dismantle, tamper with or misuse movable or fixed items.

  • This includes, but is not limited to, pillows, mirrors, towels, bedsheets, blankets, chairs, tables, fixtures, appliances and decorative items.

  • Items must not be moved between rooms, dormitories or common areas without permission from the team.

  • Unauthorised removal, relocation or misuse of property will be treated as a breach of these policies and may result in a fine or charges for any resulting loss, damage, repair, replacement or additional cleaning, as applicable.

  • If an item needs to be moved or replaced, guests should contact the team rather than moving it themselves.

7. Self-Service Facilities & Additional Amenities

Haust follows a self-service hostel model that encourages independence, community living and responsible use of shared facilities.

  • Certain traditional hotel services, such as porterage and valet parking, may not be available.

  • Some amenities and services, including towels or other items where applicable, may be available at an additional charge.

  • Applicable charges and service availability will be communicated through booking information, property signage or by the team before the service is used.

  • Guests are encouraged to review the facilities and amenities included with their selected accommodation before booking.

8. Digital Check-in & Payments

Haust may use digital tools and designated platforms for reservations, guest information, check-in formalities and payments.

Guests must complete the applicable digital and in-person procedures communicated by Haust or the relevant booking platform. Digital check-in processes do not replace the requirement to complete in-person check-in before receiving a bed allocation.

9. Food & Drinks

  • Food and beverages, including snacks and packaged drinks, may be consumed only in designated areas and are not permitted inside guest rooms or dormitories.

  • Guests must follow any additional food and drink restrictions communicated through property signage or by the team.

  • All food packaging, leftovers and related waste must be disposed of responsibly.

  • Guests must leave food and beverage areas clean after use.

10. Shared Kitchen Etiquette

Haust provides a self-service kitchen for guests to prepare their own meals. Everyone is expected to help keep this space clean, hygienic and comfortable.

  • Wash and return utensils, cookware and other equipment after use.

  • Wipe countertops, cooking surfaces and any area used for food preparation.

  • Dispose of waste in the designated bins.

  • Do not leave dirty dishes, leftover food or personal belongings unattended.

  • Use kitchen equipment responsibly and avoid wasting food, water and other resources.

  • Ensure gas stoves and other appliances are switched off after use, where applicable.

  • Do not leave food or belongings in a way that obstructs others or creates a safety or hygiene concern.

Please leave the kitchen clean and ready for the next person.

11. Cleanliness of Common Areas & Personal Belongings

Common areas are shared by all guests. Everyone is responsible for keeping these spaces clean, organised and pleasant for others.

  • Clean up after yourself whenever you use a common area, including lounges, workspaces, dining areas, the kitchen and other shared facilities.

  • Dispose of rubbish in designated bins and do not leave food waste, packaging, cups, bottles or other litter behind.

  • Keep furniture, walkways and shared facilities tidy and accessible.

  • Guests must remove their personal belongings from common areas when they leave those areas or check out. Do not leave clothes, bags, footwear, chargers, food or other personal items scattered around or unattended.

  • Personal belongings must not be stored in shared spaces in a way that inconveniences other guests or obstructs access.

  • Haust may move items left unattended where necessary for cleaning, safety or property operations. Any handling or storage of unclaimed items will be managed in accordance with the property’s lost-property procedures.

Please leave every shared space as clean and tidy as you would like to find it.

12. Damages, Missing Items & Additional Cleaning

Guests are expected to take reasonable care of Haust’s rooms, furnishings, fixtures, equipment and facilities.

Guests may be held responsible for damage, loss or additional cleaning caused by negligence, misuse or intentional actions, including:

  • Broken or damaged furniture, mirrors, fixtures, appliances, electrical equipment or bathroom fittings.

  • Stains or damage to bedding, mattresses, towels, curtains, upholstery, walls or other surfaces.

  • Missing amenities, furnishings, accessories or other property.

  • Unauthorised removal, relocation or tampering with hostel property.

  • Excessive cleaning required due to spills, food residue, waste, stains or unusual mess beyond normal use.

  • Other damage to the property’s infrastructure, equipment or facilities attributable to the guest.

Where responsibility is reasonably established, Haust may recover the reasonable cost of cleaning, repair, replacement or restoration. The basis of the charge will be communicated to the guest where practicable.

Guests should report accidental damage to the team as soon as possible. Prompt reporting helps the team address the issue, although it does not automatically remove responsibility for any resulting costs.

13. Visitors & Non-Resident Guests

  • Visitor hours are 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, subject to management approval and property requirements.

  • Visitors may be asked to register and present acceptable identification.

  • Non-resident visitors are permitted only in designated common areas and are not allowed inside guest rooms or dormitories.

  • Visitors may not stay overnight unless they have an approved reservation and have completed the required check-in formalities.

  • Haust may restrict or refuse visitor access where necessary for guest privacy, safety, security or the smooth operation of the property.

14. Quiet Hours & Respect for Other Guests

Quiet hours begin at 11:00 PM.

During quiet hours, guests must keep noise to a minimum in rooms, dormitories and common areas. Loud conversations, music or other disruptive activities that disturb fellow guests are not permitted.

Guests are welcome to socialise and enjoy the community atmosphere at Haust while respecting the comfort, privacy and rest of others.

15. Personal Belongings & Valuables

Guests are responsible for taking reasonable precautions to safeguard their personal belongings and valuables throughout their stay.

  • Use lockers or other security facilities where available, and bring a personal lock if appropriate.

  • Do not leave valuables unattended in shared spaces.

  • Report suspected theft, loss or security concerns to the team promptly.

Nothing in this policy excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is not permitted by applicable law.

16. Respectful Conduct & Community Safety

Haust is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for guests and staff. The following conduct is prohibited:

  • Harassment, abuse, intimidation, threats, violence or discriminatory behaviour.

  • Theft, vandalism, trespassing or deliberate damage to property.

  • Behaviour that compromises the safety, dignity, privacy or comfort of other guests or staff.

  • Unauthorised access to rooms, dormitories or restricted areas.

  • Refusal to follow reasonable safety instructions from the team.

  • Non-payment of amounts properly due.

  • Illegal activity or conduct that materially disrupts the hostel environment.

Depending on the seriousness of the incident, Haust may issue a warning, restrict access to facilities, require the behaviour to stop or terminate the guest’s stay. Serious or repeated breaches may result in the guest being required to leave the property and may affect their eligibility for future bookings.

Any refund or recovery of charges will be handled in accordance with the booking terms, the circumstances of the incident and applicable law. Where necessary, incidents may be reported to the relevant authorities.

17. Smoking, Alcohol & Illegal Substances

  • Possession, use or distribution of illegal drugs or prohibited narcotic substances is not permitted anywhere on the property.

  • Smoking and alcohol consumption are permitted only in designated areas, where allowed by applicable law and property rules.

  • Smoking, vaping or consuming alcohol in rooms, dormitories or other non-designated areas is prohibited.

  • Guests must not engage in conduct that endangers others, damages property or disrupts the hostel community while under the influence of alcohol or other substances.

  • Guests must follow all relevant signage and instructions from the team.

Violations may result in a fine and, where applicable, additional charges for cleaning, damage or other reasonable costs. Serious or repeated violations may result in termination of the stay. Any fine or other charge will be applied in accordance with applicable law and the terms communicated to guests.

18. Breach of Policies & Enforcement

Guests are expected to comply with these rules throughout their stay.

Depending on the nature and seriousness of a breach, Haust may issue a warning, impose a fine for a violation, recover reasonable costs for damage or loss, restrict access to facilities, terminate accommodation or decline future bookings.

Serious or repeated misconduct may require the guest to leave the property. Refunds, where applicable, will be assessed under the relevant booking terms and applicable law.

Haust may report incidents to law enforcement or other relevant authorities where necessary.

19. CCTV & Property Security

CCTV cameras operate in designated common areas and entry/exit points for safety and security. Cameras are not installed in private rooms, dormitories, bathrooms or other private spaces.

Access to CCTV footage is restricted to authorised personnel. Footage may be reviewed for security incidents, internal investigations or legal compliance and is handled in accordance with Haust’s Privacy Policy and applicable law.

By entering the property, guests acknowledge the presence of CCTV monitoring in designated areas.

20. Air Conditioning & Energy-Saving Hours

To promote responsible energy use, air conditioning in dormitory rooms is scheduled to be switched off between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

Guests booking dormitory accommodation should take this schedule into account when planning their stay. Any change due to maintenance or operational requirements will be communicated where practicable.

21. Pet Policy

Pets are not permitted at Haust unless an exception has been expressly approved in advance. Any exception remains subject to applicable law, safety requirements and property arrangements.

Guests who require an accommodation arrangement relating to an assistance animal should contact Haust before booking so the request can be considered in accordance with applicable law.

22. Third-Party Vendors & Activities

Haust may connect guests with independent third-party vendors or service providers for activities, experiences, transport, rentals or other services. These vendors operate independently and are not employees or part of Haust’s team.

  • Any service arranged directly with a vendor is provided by that vendor and is subject to the vendor’s own terms, availability, pricing and cancellation policies.

  • Guests are responsible for confirming the service details, charges, safety requirements and other arrangements directly with the vendor before participating.

  • Haust does not operate or directly provide these third-party services. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Haust is not responsible for the vendor’s acts, omissions, service quality, delays, cancellations or performance.

  • Any concerns, disputes, refunds or claims relating to a third-party service should be raised with the relevant vendor. Haust may assist with communication where possible, but such assistance does not make Haust the service provider or guarantee a resolution.

23. Shared Dormitory Accommodation

Dormitories at Haust are shared accommodation spaces intended for individual travellers and groups alike. Booking multiple beds does not mean that a dormitory will be reserved exclusively for that group.

  • Dormitory beds may be allocated to guests from different bookings, groups or parties in the same room.

  • Haust does not guarantee exclusive use of a dormitory by one group or individual, unless an exclusive arrangement has been expressly confirmed in writing by Haust.

  • Requests to keep a group together or to occupy an entire dormitory are subject to availability and management approval and cannot be guaranteed.

  • Guests staying in dormitories must respect the privacy, personal space, belongings and comfort of other occupants.

  • Guests who require exclusive accommodation should consider booking a private room or contact Haust to enquire about available options.

These conditions apply to all dormitory reservations, including group bookings.

24. Refusal of Future Accommodation

Haust may decline a future reservation where there is a reasonable basis to believe that a guest has previously engaged in serious misconduct, repeated policy violations, non-payment or behaviour that threatens the safety or well-being of guests, staff or the property.

Any refusal will be handled in accordance with applicable law and the terms of the relevant booking. Guests whose reservations are declined should contact the booking channel through which the reservation was made to clarify any payment or refund arrangements.

25. Changes to House Rules

Haust may update these policies from time to time to reflect operational changes, safety requirements or applicable legal obligations.

The version published on Haust’s official website at the time of booking will ordinarily apply to that reservation, subject to any required notice and applicable law.

Guests should contact the Haust team if they have questions or need clarification before booking.

26. Acknowledgement

By confirming a reservation and/or staying at Haust, guests acknowledge that they have had the opportunity to read these House Rules & Stay Policies and agree to comply with them, subject to applicable law and the terms of their booking.

For assistance or clarification, please contact the Haust team through the official contact details published on our website.

At Haust, we understand that travel plans can change. Our cancellation and modification policy explains how cancellations, rescheduling and refunds are handled for reservations made directly with Haust or through third-party booking platforms.

1. Cancellation Policy — Direct Bookings

For reservations made directly through the Haust website, phone, email or other direct booking channels, guests should contact the Haust team using the official contact number or email address published on our website to request cancellation assistance.

The following cancellation charges apply, based on the time remaining before the scheduled checkin:

  1. 7 or more days before checkin: Cancellation is permitted without a cancellation charge.

  2. Between 3 and 7 days before checkin: 50% of the total reservation amount will be charged.

  3. Within 3 days of checkin: 100% of the total reservation amount will be charged.

  4. No-show: If a guest does not arrive on the scheduled check-in date and has not cancelled the reservation, 100% of the total reservation amount will be charged.

Any applicable refund will be processed in accordance with the booking terms and the original payment arrangement. Refund processing times may vary depending on the payment method and financial institution.

2. Cancellation Policy — Third-Party Bookings

Reservations made through online travel agencies (OTAs) or other third-party platforms, including but not limited to Booking.com, MakeMyTrip and similar services, are subject to the terms and conditions displayed on the relevant platform at the time of booking.

  • Guests must submit cancellation requests directly through the platform on which the reservation was made.

  • Cancellation charges, refund eligibility and refund timelines will be determined in accordance with the applicable platform terms and the specific reservation conditions.

  • Haust cannot directly amend or override a platform’s cancellation decision or independently process a refund where the booking and payment are controlled by the third-party platform.

  • Guests should contact the relevant platform’s customer support for assistance with cancellations, refunds or disputes relating to their reservation.

Where a platform requires the property to approve or process a request, Haust will handle it in accordance with the applicable platform procedures.

3. Rescheduling & Booking Modifications

The same cancellation time windows and applicable charges outlined in this policy apply to requests to reschedule or modify a reservation, including changes to arrival dates, departure dates, room types, accommodation categories or the number of nights.

All modifications are subject to availability, applicable rates and the terms of the original reservation.

3.1. Refundable Bookings

For refundable reservations made directly with Haust, guests should contact the property to discuss cancellation or modification requests.

For partial modifications, such as changing dates, reducing the number of nights or changing the room category, guests may be advised to cancel the existing reservation and make a new booking.

  • Guests are encouraged to check availability and the applicable rate for their revised dates or accommodation before cancelling the existing reservation.

  • A new reservation is subject to availability and the rates applicable at the time of rebooking.

  • Any cancellation charges or refund eligibility will be determined according to the original booking’s cancellation terms.

  • A modification is not confirmed until Haust has expressly accepted the request and provided confirmation.

For reservations made through OTAs or other third-party platforms, all modification requests must be submitted through the respective booking platform and are subject to its procedures and the reservation’s terms.

3.2. Non-Refundable Bookings

Reservations booked under a non-refundable rate are not eligible for a refund upon cancellation, except where required by applicable law or expressly approved by Haust or the relevant booking platform.

Changes to dates, duration, room type or other reservation details are generally not permitted for non-refundable bookings. Any exception is subject to the specific booking terms and the express approval of Haust or the relevant platform, as applicable.

Guests should review the conditions of a non-refundable rate carefully before completing their reservation.

4. No-Show & Early Departure

If a guest does not arrive on the scheduled arrival date, the reservation will be treated as a no-show and the applicable no-show charge will apply under the booking terms.

If a guest checks out before the confirmed departure date, unused nights are not automatically refundable. Any refund or adjustment will be considered in accordance with the cancellation conditions applicable to the reservation and the relevant booking channel.

Guests who anticipate a late arrival or an early departure should contact Haust or the applicable booking platform as soon as possible.

5. Refund Processing

Where a refund is approved, it will generally be returned through the original payment method or processed through the booking platform, as applicable.

The time required for the refund to appear in the guest’s account depends on the payment provider, bank or third-party platform. Guests should contact the relevant provider or platform if a refund has been approved but has not been received within the stated processing period.

6. General Conditions

  • Cancellation and modification requests are considered received when they are submitted through the appropriate booking channel and can be verified.

  • Guests are responsible for reviewing the cancellation conditions and rate restrictions displayed before confirming a reservation.

  • Special offers, promotional rates, group bookings or other specific reservation types may have different cancellation or modification conditions where these are clearly communicated at the time of booking.

  • If this policy conflicts with a specific booking condition accepted by the guest or a third-party platform’s applicable terms, the relevant reservation terms and applicable law will govern.

  • Haust reserves the right to update this policy from time to time. The applicable terms for a reservation will be determined with reference to the conditions communicated at the time of booking, subject to applicable law.

For cancellation or modification assistance with a direct booking, please contact Haust through the official phone number or email address published on our website. For third-party bookings, please contact the platform through which you made the reservation.

Where reasonably practicable, we will explain this to you.

7. International Processing of Information

Some of the service providers used by Haust may process or store information on systems located outside India. Whether this occurs depends on the services and technologies configured for our operations.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, we will handle such transfers in accordance with applicable Indian law and any relevant restrictions or requirements.

8. Data Retention

Haust retains personal information only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, subject to applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Retention periods may vary according to the type of information and the circumstances, including:

  • Guest identity and registration records required under applicable rules.

  • Booking, payment, accounting and tax records.

  • Information needed to resolve complaints, disputes or legal claims.

  • Website and technical logs retained for operational or security purposes.

Identity documents will not be retained longer than necessary or where retention is not legally permitted. In particular, Aadhaar information will be handled subject to applicable UIDAI requirements.

CCTV footage is ordinarily retained for up to three weeks, after which it is deleted or overwritten as part of the normal retention process. Footage may be retained longer where necessary for a specific incident, investigation or legal requirement, where permitted by law.

When personal information is no longer required and there is no lawful reason to retain it, we will take appropriate steps to delete it. We aim to avoid retaining information indefinitely without a valid purpose.

9. Data Security

Haust restricts access to guest information to the property owners and any other persons specifically authorised to access it for appropriate operational or legal purposes.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, loss or misuse. These steps include restricting access to authorised persons and handling information according to its intended purpose.

We do not represent that every system or record is encrypted. Although we take measures to protect the information entrusted to us, no method of storing or transmitting information can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Where a personal-data security incident occurs, we will take appropriate steps in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

10. CCTV and Property Security

Haust operates CCTV cameras in designated common areas of the property for guest and staff safety, property security and the investigation of incidents.

CCTV cameras are not installed in private accommodation spaces or bathrooms. Access to CCTV recordings is restricted to the property owners.

Recordings are ordinarily retained for up to three weeks and are then deleted or overwritten. Where footage is relevant to a reported incident, investigation or legal requirement, it may be retained for longer where legally permitted or required.

CCTV footage is handled for appropriate safety and security purposes. Requests concerning footage will be assessed in light of applicable law, privacy rights, security considerations and the rights of other individuals.

11. Your Privacy Rights and Requests

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to information concerning your personal data.

  • Request correction or updating of inaccurate or incomplete information.

  • Request deletion of personal information where deletion is legally permissible.

  • Withdraw consent for processing that relies on your consent.

  • Raise a privacy-related concern or complaint.

  • Exercise other rights available to you under applicable law.

To help us process a request, please provide sufficient information to identify the relevant booking or record. We may request reasonable verification of your identity before responding.

We will handle requests in accordance with applicable legal requirements. A request for deletion may not be fully accommodated where information must be retained to comply with the law or where another lawful basis for continued processing applies.

12. Marketing Communications

Where permitted by law, Haust may use your contact details to share promotional offers, updates and information about our services.

You may opt out of promotional communications by using an available unsubscribe option or contacting us directly.

Opting out of marketing communications will not prevent us from sending essential messages relating to an existing reservation, payment, safety matter or stay.

Where consent is required for promotional communications, we will obtain it as required by applicable law.

13. Children and Under-18 Guests

Haust maintains age-related accommodation restrictions for the safety and comfort of our guests.

Guests under 18 may be accommodated in a private room only when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, subject to Haust’s booking requirements and applicable law. Guests under 18 are not permitted to stay in dormitory accommodation, even when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Where a booking involves a guest under 18, we may collect relevant information from the accompanying parent or guardian and the minor where necessary for reservation management, identity verification, safety and compliance with applicable requirements.

We will handle children’s personal information in accordance with applicable law, including any requirements concerning parental or guardian consent and additional safeguards for children’s data.

Our website and communications may contain links to third-party websites, booking platforms or other services.

Welcome to Haust. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website www.haust.in (“Website”) and the booking and related services made available through Haust.

In these Terms, “Haust”, “we”, “us” or “our” refers to the business operating under the Haust name. “Guest”, “you” or “your” refers to any person accessing the Website, making a reservation or using our services.

By accessing the Website, submitting a booking or staying at our property, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these Terms and agree to comply with them, together with the policies applicable to your reservation. If you do not agree with these Terms, please discontinue use of the Website.

1. About Haust

Haust provides hostel accommodation and related guest facilities at its property in Varkala, Kerala. Depending on availability and the applicable booking conditions, accommodation may include private rooms and shared dormitory beds.

Haust may also help guests connect with independent third-party providers offering activities, experiences, transportation, rentals or other services. Such providers operate independently and are not necessarily part of Haust.

The facilities, amenities and services available may vary according to the accommodation type, booking conditions and operational requirements.

2. Eligibility & Guest Information

2.1. Users making a reservation must be legally capable of entering into a binding agreement under applicable law.

2.2. Guests must provide accurate, complete and current information when making a reservation and completing check-in formalities.

2.3. Guests must satisfy the applicable age, identification and accommodation requirements set out in Haust’s House Rules & Stay Policies. Guests under 18 are not permitted in dormitories and may stay in private rooms only when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, in accordance with those policies.

2.4. Haust may decline a reservation or refuse check-in where a guest does not meet the applicable eligibility or identification requirements, provides materially false information or otherwise fails to comply with the booking conditions, subject to applicable law.

3. Use of the Website

You agree to use the Website only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not interfere with its operation or the rights of others.

You must not:

  • Use the Website to make fraudulent, misleading or unauthorised reservations.

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Website, its systems, accounts or related infrastructure.

  • Interfere with the Website’s security, availability or proper functioning.

  • Introduce malicious software, harmful code or other material intended to disrupt the Website.

  • Copy, reproduce, distribute, modify or commercially exploit Website content without the required permission.

  • Use the Website in violation of applicable laws or regulations.

Haust may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address misuse, protect the Website or comply with legal obligations.

4. Reservations & Booking Confirmation

4.1. All reservations are subject to accommodation availability, the selected room or dormitory type, applicable prices and the conditions displayed during the booking process.

4.2. A reservation is considered confirmed once the required booking steps and advance-payment conditions have been completed and a booking confirmation has been issued by Haust or the relevant booking platform.

4.3. Guests are responsible for reviewing the reservation details, including dates, number of guests, accommodation type, rates, payment requirements and applicable restrictions, before completing a booking.

4.4. A reservation for multiple dormitory beds does not guarantee that all guests will be allocated beds in the same dormitory or on the same floor. Dormitories are shared spaces unless exclusive use has been expressly confirmed by Haust in writing.

4.5. Bed allocation takes place after the guest completes the required in-person check-in formalities. Guests must occupy only their assigned beds and follow the applicable House Rules & Stay Policies.

4.6. Early check-in, late check-out, special room requests and other preferences are subject to availability and confirmation by Haust. Such requests are not guaranteed unless expressly confirmed.

4.7. Haust may make reasonable operational adjustments to accommodation arrangements where necessary, while seeking to honour the confirmed booking and applicable consumer rights.

5. Prices, Payments & Taxes

5.1. The price applicable to a reservation will be the price presented and accepted during the booking process, together with any applicable taxes, fees or additional charges disclosed at that time.

5.2. Advance payments must be completed according to the instructions provided when the reservation is made.

5.3. The full outstanding balance for the stay must be paid and cleared at check-in, unless a different arrangement is expressly stated in the reservation terms.

5.4. Reservations made through online travel agencies or other third-party platforms are subject to the payment arrangements and procedures of the respective platform. Guests must follow the payment instructions provided by that platform and Haust, as applicable.

5.5. Additional charges may apply for services or amenities not included in the selected booking, as well as for damage, missing property, excessive cleaning or policy violations where applicable and lawfully chargeable.

5.6. Website prices and offers may change for future bookings. A price change will not, by itself, alter the agreed price of an already-confirmed reservation, except where permitted by the reservation terms and applicable law.

6. Cancellation, Refunds & Modifications

All cancellations, refunds, rescheduling and booking modifications are governed by Haust’s Cancellation & Refund Policy and any specific conditions accepted during the booking process.

For direct reservations, guests should contact Haust through the official contact details published on the Website for cancellation or modification assistance.

For reservations made through third-party booking platforms, guests must ordinarily submit cancellation, refund and modification requests through the platform on which the reservation was made. Such requests remain subject to the platform’s procedures and the applicable reservation terms.

Guests are responsible for reviewing whether their reservation is refundable or non-refundable and for checking any applicable cancellation deadlines or modification restrictions before booking.

Nothing in these Terms removes any rights or remedies available to a guest under applicable law.

7. House Rules & Guest Responsibilities

All guests must comply with Haust’s House Rules & Stay Policies, which form part of the conditions applicable to their stay.

These rules cover matters including:

  • Age and identification requirements.

  • Check-in, check-out and bed allocation.

  • Shared dormitory arrangements and room allocation.

  • Cleanliness and responsible use of common areas and the shared kitchen.

  • Care of property, amenities and personal belongings.

  • Visitors, quiet hours, smoking, alcohol and prohibited substances.

  • Respectful conduct, safety and the consequences of policy violations.

Guests are expected to respect fellow travellers, staff, the property and the shared nature of hostel accommodation.

Breaches may result in warnings, applicable fines or charges, restrictions on facilities, termination of accommodation or refusal of future bookings, depending on the circumstances and subject to applicable law and the relevant booking terms.

8. Third-Party Platforms, Services & Vendors

8.1. The Website or Haust’s communications may direct guests to external websites, booking platforms, payment providers or independent service providers.

8.2. Third-party platforms operate under their own terms, policies and procedures. Guests should review those terms before using the relevant service.

8.3. Haust may introduce guests to independent vendors offering activities, transport, rentals or other experiences. Such vendors are separate service providers and are not automatically employees, agents or part of Haust.

8.4. Unless expressly stated otherwise, arrangements for these services are made with the relevant vendor and are subject to that vendor’s availability, prices, safety procedures, cancellation terms and other conditions.

8.5. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Haust is not responsible for the independent vendor’s acts, omissions, service quality, delays, cancellations or performance. Guests should raise service-related concerns, payment disputes and refund requests directly with the relevant provider.

8.6. Haust may assist with communication where reasonably possible, but such assistance does not make Haust the provider of the third-party service or guarantee a particular outcome.

8.7. Nothing in this section excludes responsibility that Haust may have under applicable law.

9. Website Content & Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise indicated, the Website’s text, branding, logos, designs, photographs, graphics and other content are owned by Haust or used with permission from the relevant rights holders.

You may access and use the Website for personal, lawful purposes, including researching accommodation and making reservations.

You must not reproduce, republish, modify, distribute or commercially exploit Website content without prior permission from the relevant rights holder, except where permitted by law.

The use of Haust’s name, branding or other intellectual property without appropriate authorisation is prohibited.

Haust makes reasonable efforts to keep the Website accessible and its information useful and current. However, the Website may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, technical problems, connectivity issues or circumstances outside our control.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Haust does not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Website or that it will always be free from errors or technical defects.

Website descriptions, photographs and other illustrative material are intended to help guests understand the property and its facilities. Actual arrangements may vary by room type, availability and operational requirements. Material booking details and confirmed reservation terms will apply, subject to applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms excludes any mandatory consumer rights or statutory guarantees that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Haust will not be liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of the Website or circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

Haust is not responsible for interruptions caused by third-party platforms, payment providers, telecommunications services or independent vendors, except to the extent responsibility arises under applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, negligence where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, or any other liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Where liability may lawfully be limited, the extent of that liability will be assessed in accordance with the applicable law and the circumstances of the claim.

12. Privacy & Personal Information

The collection and use of personal information in connection with the Website, reservations and stays are governed by Haust’s Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy explains the categories of information that may be collected, how that information is used, when it may be shared, applicable retention practices and how guests can submit privacy-related requests.

Guests should review the Privacy Policy before providing personal information or making a reservation.

13. Suspension, Termination & Refusal of Service

Haust may restrict Website access, decline a booking or take appropriate action in response to fraudulent activity, serious or repeated policy violations, non-payment or conduct that threatens the safety of guests, staff or the property.

Any action relating to a confirmed reservation or an ongoing stay will be taken in accordance with the House Rules & Stay Policies, the applicable booking terms and applicable law.

Where necessary, incidents may be reported to the relevant authorities.

14. Events Beyond Our Reasonable Control

Haust will not be responsible for a delay or failure to perform an obligation to the extent that it results from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, such as natural disasters, severe weather, government restrictions, public emergencies, major utility disruptions or other comparable events.

Where such circumstances affect a confirmed reservation, Haust will communicate relevant information and handle any cancellation, modification or refund in accordance with the applicable booking terms and law.

This section does not remove any rights or obligations that cannot lawfully be excluded.

15. Changes to These Terms

Haust may update these Terms to reflect changes to its services, operating arrangements, Website features or applicable legal requirements.

The updated version will be published on the Website with a revised “Last updated” date. Changes will apply as permitted by law and will not retrospectively remove rights already accrued under a confirmed reservation.

Guests are encouraged to review the Terms periodically.

16. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of India.

Any dispute relating to these Terms will be addressed in accordance with applicable Indian law. Where court proceedings are necessary, jurisdiction will be determined by the applicable legal rules.

Nothing in this section limits any consumer rights or remedies available under applicable law.
